Dan Linssen Receives "Ladder of Liberty" Award
RPBC member Dan Linssen was honored on Saturday, April 22nd, at the 8th District's annual GOP caucus with the "Ladder of Liberty" Award. A portion of former RPBC Chairman Jim Fitzgerald's (Fitz') commendation for the award reads:
"A longtime Brown County party volunteer, Dan Linssen is always looking for opportunities to help carry out our mission, “To win elections and develop a coalition of like-minded individuals who believe in helping our society by governing with conservative principles.” To that end, Dan offered to research and write a newsletter for our Brown County party. Dan saw a need for connecting our membership given the unsettled political environment of our times. An accomplished author and gifted writer, Dans musings and writing often lead to thought provoking discourse and conversations which in the end, make us all better for having had them."
Fitz' commendation goes on to state that “volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.”
Upon birth, we're given a name and an allotment of time on this planet - nothing else. Dan has donated both by virtue of his work for our RPBC. There's no more deserving recipient of this award than Dan Linssen.

Chairman Heidel: Vote on April 4th! It's Our Last Chance
Fellow Republicans:
On Friday afternoon, March 31, the program director for WISN Radio 1130 in Milwaukee announced that the Protasiewicz campaign made the biggest buy of radio time for spots in the history of the station. This huge buy of airtime is focused on conservative listeners, apparently with the strategy of frustrating, discouraging, suppressing, and/or confusing enough of Kelly's supporters with the vile “Dirty Dan” ads that they lose their motivation to get out and vote for Kelly tomorrow.
On no planet would I ever be mistaken for a pious man. Yet, yesterday on Palm Sunday, I couldn’t help but contemplate the atrocities which our Lord experienced. In the end - after his flogging, crowning with thorns, mockery, false accusations and condemnation, friends’ betrayals, and finally, the nailing of his hands and feet to the wooden cross, he cries out: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
I share these two experiences of the last 72 hours because of one theme they both share: abandonment. With early voting behind us, tomorrow is our last remaining opportunity to vote, to be counted, and to “abandon abandonment”. Either turn off the radio, television, and internet or realize that you’re being played. Concealed carry, re-districting and national elections, CRT, Act 10 and higher taxes, the right to life, and rampant crime are just a few of the issues that will be determined in the outcome of the Kelly-Protasiewicz race.
If you’ve only voted in November elections in the past, then it’s time you understand spring elections are JUST as important. This is as much a plea for our futures and Constitutional rights as it is a plea for Kelly and Weininger. It’s as if both Lady Liberty and Lady Justice are crying, “My protector, my protector, why would you forsake me?” We can’t abandon our responsibility as a conservative voter or as an American. We’re as much a patriot in April as we are in November!
As stated above, I’m no pious man. I’ll tell you how it is. If you don’t vote tomorrow, you’ve lost your privilege to revel in victory and bi**ch in defeat! There you have it.

ELECTION DAY RESOURCES
Message from Chairman Rich Heidel, 3/31/2023
Fellow Republicans:
Thursday was indeed a grave day in American history. The weaponization of the legal system to indict a former president and leading political opponent is beyond despicable. It’s tyrannical and truly demonstrates that the Democrats will stop at nothing to keep their power. This case has been in the news for quite some time. Across the nation, legal professionals on the left and right have admitted there is no crime. I agree.
While many of you may be experiencing anger or believe the situation is bleak, this is a time for calm. I implore you to look beyond what has taken place. There is a much bigger picture to consider and it’s incredibly positive.
The Democrats just committed political suicide. How do we know this?
- Democrats don’t believe they can beat President Donald Trump
- President Trump’s lead in the polls will only widen
- More Americans are seeing what the Democrats really stand for
- Right leaning Democrats are leaving the party
- Immigrants who left banana republic countries are voting Republican
- Americans will rise to the occasion by getting involved in their elections and head to the polls
Yesterday’s event should resonate here in Wisconsin. Soros-backed Janet Protasiewicz stands for the same corrupt values we’re witnessing in NYC. The illegal installation of cameras and microphones at Green Bay City Hall by Mayor Genrich shows his desire to have a surveillance state. Getting to the polls and voting for Daniel Kelly and Chad Weininger is more important than ever!
If you haven’t already, take out that address book, reach out to your conservative friends and family and encourage them to vote. Then encourage them to reach out to their conservative friends and family. This is a tight race and every vote is critical.
In closing, I’m reminded of Rudyard Kipling’s famous poem, “If”. Let it be a reminder that there is hope and we will prevail!
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;
If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

This election will determine the balance of the Wisconsin Supreme Court — conservative reforms and the rule of law itself are at risk. It is imperative that conservatives all across Wisconsin overwhelm the ballot box on and before April 4.
Don’t let transportation stop you from saving Wisconsin.

Letter from Chairman Rich Heidel
Fellow Republicans:
This is an update from my previous letter to include recognition of Dr. Patti Schick for her matchless contributions to the RPBC as a former executive committee member. “Dr. Patti” most notably contributed with the Party’s approach to the Covid outbreak, as well as her work with various Republican women’s organizations. For this oversight, I confess “mea culpa” and extend expressions of immense gratitude on behalf of the RPBC executive committee for her service and for that of our other former committee members. Please read on….

This letter is long overdue. It’s been a grueling five weeks since the caucus. As I stated at the January 28th caucus, our primary goal is to win elections – partisan and nonpartisan alike. With that in mind, I first want to address this April 4th election which is staring us in the face.
My history as an Army officer often enlightens my approach to life’s challenges. Whether we realize it or not, we’ve received battlefield commissions and have ALREADY been thrust into two raging battles: the race for Wisconsin’s supreme court’s open seat and the race for Green Bay’s mayoral office. As a swing county, Brown County must deliver a minimum 57% vote count for Justice Dan Kelly in the State’s supreme court race and at least 51% of Green Bay’s mayoral vote for Chad Weininger. A loss of the state supreme court’s open seat not only jeopardizes ten years’ of successes such as right to work, Act 10, concealed carry, lower taxes, and so forth, but, more frighteningly, our very fundamental Constitutional rights themselves such as the right to life, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and 2nd Amendment. As conservatives, we’ve typically voted on Election Day itself – not during election “season”. Unfortunately, this has turned out to be problematic in extremely close elections. Why? There have been enough Republican voters, who on Election Day, have broken their leg, had to attend a funeral, forgot to vote, took ill at home, lost heart with biased media election coverage, etc. Thus, as RPW Chairman Brian Schimming has said, “The one thing I hate more than early voting is losing!” Early voting is legal and a tool that the Democrats have been using - we’re fools not to use it ourselves! Early voting starts on March 21st.
Secondly, we’ve started a new chapter in our RPBC. I first want to thank the previous executive committee for their commitment to the Party. A special thanks to Jim Fitzgerald, Hans Schaupp, Pitter Martinez, and Tony Yaggie for their unswerving dedication over the years to the RPBC. I look forward to these longtime members continuing to be an important part of our Party. Their contributions to the exceptional branding of the RPBC has been immeasurable!
“Hats off!” to the Party members who participated in the January caucus. Change is inevitable in every organization, and this was the first time in which so many participated in the process. We have several new executive committee members to start the term and we hope to see new members participating in RPBC events and activities, such as:
- Participating in “Super Saturdays” on March 18th, 25th, and April 1st to turn out the vote. Training and camaraderie are part of the program!
- Supporting allied events in the area such as nationally renowned and high-energy conservative speaker Scott Pressler’s appearances on March 23rd thru 26th at UWGB, SNC, and D2 Sports Pub in Hobart & school choice forums in local venues, as well as other topics and venues.
- Membership forums on the 2nd Saturday of each month at the RPBC headquarters.
- New fund-raising and social events like the May 21st Riverside dinner & musical entertainment evening.
- Building on last year’s golf outing’s success with our second annual golf outing scheduled for June 23rd .
There will be more to come later in the year as well! We’ll also be setting up committees and looking for members to populate those committees.
We’re blessed by living where we do and by the people in our lives. Like any family, we’ve had disagreements, but I respectfully ask that we put aside any issues with past members and work towards a common goal for our children, grandchildren, and our common future. It’s time to come together and work. We’re all creatures of God’s love. If He can love and forgive every one of us, then who are we not to?

Message from Senator Ron Johnson
Dear conservatives of Wisconsin,
Think of the most important conservative policy initiatives that have been enacted over the last few decades in Wisconsin - welfare reform, Act 10, and Right to Work to name just a few - and then realize they could all be repealed by judicial fiat if Justice Dan Kelly does not win the upcoming election for Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice. Basic protections for unborn children would also be at grave risk
Unfortunately, the radical left has targeted our Supreme Court election and is pouring millions of dollars into our state to elect a radical left wing judicial activist. She must be defeated. We probably won’t be able to match the dollars flowing in, but we certainly have enough conservative voters to overwhelm the left’s efforts.
In April 2019, after the disappointing November, 2018 gubernatorial election loss, our conservative grassroots rose to the challenge and defeated another liberal Supreme Court candidate. We can do it again - we must do it again.
We won the April, 2019 election with a little over 600,000 votes. I won my 2022 reelection with over 1.3 million votes - 700,000 more votes than we garnered in 2019. So we know we have more than enough potential conservative votes to win the upcoming election. The only question is whether our county parties and conservative grass-root volunteers can raise awareness and sufficiently turn out the vote.
I am asking every conservative in the state of Wisconsin who understands how crucial the April election is to talk to every friend, neighbor, fellow worker, and family member and get them to vote for Dan Kelly. We are encouraging early voting and voting by absentee ballot. The more votes we log in prior to election day, the further our GOTV dollars will go to turn out the remaining vote on Election Day.
Thank you for all you have done, and will do, to win this crucial election.
Ron Johnson
