Brad Schimel grew up in the Town of Vernon. After graduating from UW Law School in 1990, he was hired as an Assistant DA serving until he was elected Waukesha County District Attorney in 2006 and was twice reelected. In 2015 he was elected Wisconsin Attorney General. Brad returned to the courthouse in 2019 as a Circuit Court Judge. As a lifelong Wisconsinite, he dedicated his career to defending victims and supporting law enforcement. As a prosecutor, Schimel earned a reputation for being tough and relentless in his pursuit of justice. For Brad Schimel, being “tough on crime” is a calling and prosecuted a wide range of serious crimes. As Wisconsin’s Attorney General, known as the state’s “Top Cop,” Brad tackled some of the largest criminal justice issues facing the state. Notably, he established a program that addressed decades of neglect surrounding rape kits, providing victims with closure and clearing a significant backlog. Brad and his wife, Sandi, have two adoptive daughters. They reside in Waukesha County, where Brad currently serves as a Circuit Court Judge, upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety of their community.
